Lenny Kravitz was easily the least uncomfortable-making of the US-American guests I have seen on Arashi shows.  EASILY.  He was so great!  I have a hard time watching non-Japanese speaking guests in general because there always seems to be a feeling of … hm, like they think they are on another planet?  And that because the people around them can’t understand what the English-speaker is saying, they won’t pick up on any cues, sometimes so much so that it seems like they unconsciously think that because the Japanese celebrities don’t understand English, they’re less intelligent.  Like when someone says something like, “Yes, of course I’ve heard of you, I watch your shows all the time!” and they have this expression of HAR HAR HAR and of course Arashi are themselves, polite and reacting well to this and disbelieving in a fun way, but they are not fucking stupid, US-Americans!  When you say you’re going to treasure a picture they gave you forever and ever, and you say it with a certain tone, Arashi not understanding the words doesn’t mean they won’t pick up on your disrespect!  AND EVEN IF THEY DON’T, I DO, MOTHERFUCKERS.  Ahem.  Yes.  … …. So, Lenny Kravitz was just great.  Lenny Kravitz: treated Nino like a fellow human being.  Lenny Kravitz: made an attempt to speak Japanese, made an attempt to keep up with the conversation without relying only on the words the translator said, and when Nino laughed at some of the attempts (in a laughing WITH you sort of way, and also being pleased that the foreign guest was even trying!), LENNY LAUGHED, TOO.  Basically, he was great in all ways.  GREAT IN ALL WAYS, A+++, LENNY KRAVITZ.

PHRENK: ALSO GREAT IN ALL WAYS
